Elizabeth Diamond was a single mother who was raising four daughters: Lily, Ella, Samona and Tara in age from 5 to 12 years.
In August 2014 doctors diagnosed Elizabeth with the stage four brain cancer. The mother of many children knew that after her death her daughters would be all alone, and this thought frightened her a lot.
Laura Ruffino, Elizabeth’s best friend since the 5th grade, had promised to adopt her daughters when Elizabeth would be gone.
In April 2015, Elizabeth died, and Laura kept her promise.
Laura and her husband Rico have their own two daughters, and after adoption of Elizabeth’s kids their family has grown twice!
This wonderful family lives in New York. Local residents have been helping them financially: 80 thousand dollars were already collected for Ruffino family.
“Ten years ago I didn’t think this would be my life. But if something gets thrown at you just accept the challenge and do the best you can,” Rico said.
Today, Laura and her husband are doing everything possible for the girls, so they feel loved and welcome in their new family!
