Andrew and Tristan Tate are American-British media personalities, former professional kickboxers, and social media influencers who rose to prominence through controversial online content promoting hyper-masculinity, wealth, and male dominance. Reports confirm that Richard Grenell, a special envoy under the Trump administration, played a key role in discussions regarding the Tates’ travel restrictions. Grenell spoke with Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu at the Munich Security Conference in February 2025. While Grenell denied applying pressure, multiple sources indicate that U.S. officials lobbied Romanian authorities on the Tates’ behalf.
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu’s aides reportedly instructed prosecutors to find a compromise to appease the Trump administration shortly after these discussions. The Romanian foreign ministry stated that the prosecutor’s office made the final decision independently.

Members of the “War Room” reportedly receive a reading list and a manifesto from Sonkin outlining the group’s agenda. One fantasy novel on the list features a villainous wizard (bearing a resemblance to Sonkin) who trades in “girl slaves” and is the true power behind a “cobra king”.
